An extensive and continued development of a small existing mission center, this new dedicated 6500 sq. ft. mission facility and orphanage will be capable of housing up to 36 children full-time. This center will serve as a social hub for the local Tarahumara Indian community and a refuge for young visitors and residents alike. In an area of harsh summers, cold winters, and extreme dry winds, solidity, mass, and overhangs provide refuge from harsh summer light and heat. Passive heating, natural ventilation, and deep-set windows that admit winter light greatly improve winter comfort.
