This 5000 sq. ft. residence is heavily influenced by the historic character of traditional Santa Barbara architecture. Details from Spanish Colonial and George Washington Smith styles are prominent throughout. The house extends on the east-west axis across a sloped site, down to the ocean. Walls disappear to bring the beauty of site inside; outdoor spaces become extensions of their interior counterparts. The structure was built with materials that age gracefully and require little maintenance, such as clay roof tile, paint-free stucco walls, and local sandstone.
